Bikini Bottom is hosting the Super Villain Twenty Year Reunion, and everyone is excited. But before the festivities can begin, evil villain Dirty Bubble kidnaps SpongeBob"s favorite heroes, Mermaidman and Barnicaleboy! It"s up to SpongeBob and his friends to save their heroes before Dirty Bubble completes his evil scheme. Fortunately for SpongeBob, Mermaidman left behind his powerful utility belt. Using this belt, SpongeBob can use superpowers to summon a sea creature, call up a whirlwind, gain super strength, and run incredibly fast. Each of these powers can be activated using the DS touch screen. The screen displays Mermaidman"s belt, and players will have to learn which controls on the belt do what in order to get SpongeBob through the multiple levels and obstacles he will face before he confronts Dirty Bubble. Another interesting aspect of The Yellow Avenger is its non-linear game play. Players don"t have to accomplish tasks in any certain order, nor do they necessarily have to complete every mission to save Mermaidman. This allows players to explore Bikini Bottom at their leisure and interact with many SpongeBob characters. This non-linear game play combined with the unique touch screen controls makes SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS: THE YELLOW AVENGER a fun, highly entertaining game for any fan of SpongeBob.
