This is then immersed into a scented oil, the charcoal in the stick absorbs some of the oil and afterwards they are left out to dry. After drying the newly scented sticks are sealed inside an airtight bag before packaging. When burned, the approaching ember vaporizes the oil in the stick into the air and the charcoal burns away. This vaporized oil creates a rich, strong scented smoke.
