Enkaustikos Wax Paint - Opal Violet...Titanium Coated Mica Particles. Opal Violet has a shimmery rich lavender cast with a silver interference color. The opal series are not meant to be used for mixing as this will affect the translucency and interference attributes of these paints. If you do mix with other encaustic paints you might try any of the transparent paints. The pigment particles are heavy and will settle easily so make sure to stir the opals to get good pigment distribution. Our encaustic colors are handmade from the finest ingredients: Enkaustikos selects the most beautiful pigments the finest No. 1 Singapore Damar Resin and United States Pharmaceutical Grade (USP) Refined Natural Beeswax. These pearlescent pigments have an interference quality which exhibit a two color play depending upon the viewing angle. Opal pigments have excellent lightfastness properties. Our wax paints are sold in 1 fluid ounce disks which measure approximately 2 inch diameter and are 1/2 inch thick. If you buy 16 fl ounces you will receive 16 disks which are quicker to melt and much easier for dispensing in the classroom or workshops. We offer a range of sizes from 1 fluid ounce to 16 fluid ounce. We recommend heating our wax paints between 150 and 175 degrees F to prevent burning and to offer optimum working characteristics.
