Featuring an even more eclectic range of artists, R.M. Vol. 2 is just as strong and sometimes even more interesting than its predecessor. The full gamut of reggae style, from rock steady to dancehall, is present once again to reinterpret the songs of Police, who themselves drew much inspiration from reggae. Pre-Police giants like Toots and the Maytals, Inner Circle, and Third World, contemporaries Aswad, Freddy McGregor, Bim Sherman, and newer stars like Louchie Lou, Rayvon, Shaggy, and Big Mountain all make stalwart contributions, reemphasizing how strong reggae"s legacy of stars is now, and the 10 songs (including "Don"t Stand So Close to Me," "So Lonely," and "De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da") are testament once again to the writing skills of Sting and Co. --Derek Rath
