The Rubbermaid Commercial mobile step-on trash can is a rectangular, injection-molded, HDPE garbage can with a foot-operated polypropylene lid for hands-free waste disposal. This waste container complies with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Standard 1910.1030 on bloodborne pathogens for the safe containment of infectious waste. HDPE (high-density polyethylene) is stronger than LDPE (low-density polyethylene) and resists moisture and certain chemicals. Polypropylene used for lid is more rigid than polyethylene and also resistant to certain chemicals. A foot pedal lifts the lid and enables hands-free waste disposal. A tight-fitting, overlapping lid helps to contain odors. An ultraviolet (UV) stabilizer minimizes fading and discoloring. This garbage can measures 32.5 x 16.13 x 19.75 inches (H x W x D) and has a capacity of 23 gallons. (H is height, the vertical distance from lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.) It complies with Factory Mutual (FM) Approvals Standard 6921 for combustible waste containers and is suitable for use with a rigid trash liner and disposable liners (each sold separately).Trash cans are used for the disposal and temporary storage of garbage. They are typically made of plastic or metal and sometimes have a top or lid to contain odors and waste. Certain garbage cans meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for the disposal of medical waste or National Sanitation Foundation/American National Standards Institute (NSF/ANSI) requirements for food handling and processing. Other waste containers include a lock to prevent unauthorized access, safeguard confidential materials, and comply with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements. Waste bins can also be color-coded to facilitate the separation of recyclable waste, such as bottles, cans, paper, and general refuse. Ash/trash can receptacles typically include an ashtray on top for cigarette disposal. Trash cans are used in virtually all commercial and industrial environments.Rubbermaid manufactures cleaning, organizing, and material handling products for commercial, medical, and industrial applications.
