Rockabilly has been around sine the beginning of rock n roll. In fact, it was the beginning of rock n roll. Most think of Elvis Presley and Sun Records or the "80s revivalists, The Stray Cats, when rockabilly is mentioned, but like most music that"s "for the kids" there"s an underground scene of rockabillies all across the nation...always has been. Even today if you step into a nightclub where Big Sandy & his Fly-Rite Boys, Deke Dickerson, or The Blasters are playing you"ll feel like you just went through a time warp. Boys dressed in white t-shirts and blue jeans with leather jackets and pompadours...girls with Bettie Page haircuts and poodle skirts with handkerchiefs tied around their necks. These kids appreciate the early days...a simpler time when life was just about going out and having fun. It"s more than just the music...it"s the scene, a way of life.
