Academy 1/48 U.S. Navy F-14A Tomcat
Price 7.91 - 31.99 USD
This is a 1/48 Plastic F-14A Tomcat Model Kit from Academy Plastics. It"s for ages 10 and up. The failure of the F-111B to meet the requirements set forth by the Navy for their new basic fighter resulted in heated competition for a suitable carrier based plane. Variable-sweep wings were not a part of the new specifications, but Grumman proposed this still-new feature on their entry because of their experience with them. The capable production version could cut its width in half thanks to the inclusion of the variable-sweep wings. FEATURES: Plastic pieces attached to sprues and molded in gray. The surface of the plane is decorated with fully engraved panel lines and rivet detail. Highly detailed cockpit interior includes a seat, controls, and gauges. As an added bonus a life-like pilot is included. Adjustable sweep wings are functional and give this model the realism that intrigues modelers young and old alike. Intricate landing gear system is complete with every detail. The Tomcat is no slouch when it comes to equipment. You"ll find that the model is equipped with a variety of missles and extra fuel cells. Modelers have the choice of one of two different jet exhaust cones. Clear plastic canopy allows close inspection of cockpit. Detailed pictorial instructions guide you through assembly.
