The Sturmgeschutz III was a German assault gun and tank destroyer. The simplicity, low cost, and short time to manufacture were definitive advantages that led to large production numbers during the early years of WWII, and the Sturmgeschutz III was Germanys most produced armored fighting vehicle of the war.Built on the chassis of the Panzer III tank, the StuG III was designed to keep up with advancing infantry units so it could be used to destroy enemy bunkers and other fortifications.
