A scientific experiment goes awry leaving the fate of the world hanging in the balance in this exciting sci-fi thriller. The United States, Great Britain and Russia join forces to launch a manned space mission to the moon, but things go terribly wrong and crew leader John MacLaren (Paul Hubschmid) is forced to abandon ship shortly after blast off. MacLaren safely returns to Earth, but the rocket continues to sail through space and eventually explodes causing asteroids to be thrown into the path of Earth. Pummeling the planet, these asteroids cause earthquakes, tidal-waves and extreme weather conditions which tear at the world"s major cities. In a last-ditch effort to save the planet from destruction, the world"s scientific community bands together before it"s too late. The film features top-notch cinematography from European horror legend Mario Bava.
