Set in Los Angeles shortly before the 1992 riots, this affecting story tells of Matt, a 19-year-old from Ohio, who meets Evelyn, a 39-year-old single African-American woman, in the local laundromat. Matt, who"s trying to win back his ex-girlfriend and make it as an artist, and Evelyn, who has no interest in a relationship, eventually get involved, and face their own pasts and prejudices.
