Aspiring physician Frank Siena (Danny Nucci) makes an oath of loyalty to mob boss Nicola Delarusso (Paul Sorvino) after Delarusso agrees to spare the life of Frank"s father, an honest man who has interfered with mob business. Sent to Italy to study medicine on the Mafia"s tab, Frank later returns to New Jersey and finds that his agreement to serve as a "Mafia doctor" sorely tests both his Hippocratic oath and his own conscience.
