In this film, Jeremy Cohen is joined on stage at San Francisco"s historic Herbst Theatre by other members of his ViolinJazz Quartet and other musical guests to mark what would have been Venuti’s 100th birthday. In a world where the deepest musical roots are often taken for granted, Cohen carries on the legacy of jazz violin with a deep knowledge of, and respect for, the past. His tribute to Joe Venuti, captured here on film, is neither sentimental nor contrived. Rather, he combines the past with the present in a way that draws the audience into the story. This DVD captures a multimedia event which combines live performance with rare film footage and slides of the late Joe Venuti.
