JOSE ALFREDO JIMENEZ: (born January 9, 1926, in Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato, died November 23, 1973, in Mexico City) was a Mexican singer-songwriter in the ranchera style. His songs are considered part of Mexican musical heritage, at the level, for instance, of Woody Guthrie for American music, he composed more than 200 songs. In addition to his own hit recordings, many of his songs have been recorded successfully by singers around the Spanish-speaking world, most notably by Pedro Infante, Javier Solis, Jorge Negrete, Luis Miguel, Lola Beltran, Lucha Villa and Vicente Fernandez. He"s regarded as one of the best Mexican songwriters of all time. With testimonials from his wife, brothers and sons this is the most complete documentary ever done about the greatest Mexican songwriter of all time. SALVADOR FLORES RIVERA: (January 14, 1920 - August 5, 1987, Mexico City), known as "Chava" Flores, was a Mexican singer and composer. He was born in the district of La Merced, the very center of historical Mexico City and he is considered one of the greatest Mexican composers of twentieth-century popular music. He was called by many names - Mexico City"s musical reporter, Mexico"s festive composer, urban folk musician, to mention a few - but he preferred to be called the Song Maker. The songs of Chava Flores reflect a profound knowledge of the folklore of mid-twentieth century Mexico City and are a parody of society and its daily activities.
