Artisan Quality Pure Leaf Teas Fresh Western Yunnan, China USDA Organic Brews 75 Cups Certified Organic by QAIOrigin Cangyuan, Yunnan ChinaGrown at a remote tea garden in Cangyuan, Yunnan (border of Burma and Western Yunnan in China). Cangyuan, although lesser known outside of China, is famous for its big leaf "dayeh" tea plant varietal. The term "tuocha" refers to a family of traditional, compressed bowl shaped leaves, commonly available in Green, Black, or Puer teas. Each Puer Tuocha is wrapped in cotton paper for convenience in storing and tea preparation.Puer TeaPuer"s history dates more than 1,700 years ago from the small village of Puer in Southern Yunnan. Puer teas are known for their earthy flavor profiles, shape, ability to age and processing. Technique In making Puer Tuocha, mature leaves are selected in summer, gently roasted, sun-dried, steamed, and then shaped into small bowls. During the process, the leaves maintain a fair amount of moisture and a natural fermentation occurs that darkens their color.Flavor ProfileVery earthy, sweet, smooth, dark brew that gains no bitterness and is ideal to pair with savory foods. The Tao of TeaLike the Tao, the art of tea is universal. We began our work with tea in 1997 to be a connecting thread for tea culture. Practicing the art on a daily basis in our teahouses in Portland, Oregon, we are a group of tea enthusiasts from different backgrounds and cultures. We travel, learn, take delight and seek to offer pure leaf teas with great flavor, artistry and soul. Our reward comes through actions that help people"s lives, sustain the art of tea and promise a healthy environment.
