Ten Days to Freedom tells the exciting and fascinating story of a group of teenage freedom fighters of Redor"s Fil-American Irregular Troops whose area of operations during the Japanese occupation of the Phillipines were Laguna, Tayabas (now Quezon), and a part of Batangas Province. On February 5, 1945 the mayor of Polillo, Quezon urgently requested the author, the Commanding Officer of the Pollilo to station his forces outside the town proper and be ready to render aid and protection to the town"s inhabitants. One day, while the young freedom fighters resting alsong the Seashore outside of town, three light bombers suddenly appeared overhead. Having recognized the guerrillas, the planes headed straight to the Japanese garrison and dropped some bombs. The author took advantage of the situation by ordering his men to enter the town proper and proceed to their respective areas of responsibility--and to shoot any enemy on sight. The events that led to the unintended liberation of Polillo Proper on February 15, 1945, and eventually the whole island group of Pollilo Islands, are described here in a compelling, straightforward narrative by a World Warr II veteran who served his country with great distinction.
