Karenin consists of 39 chapters (of 239) of Lev Tolstoy’s novel Anna Karenina in which Aleksei Aleksandrovich Karenin, Anna’s husband, appears. The intent is to allow the reader to see the story of the Karenins’ failing marriage from Aleksei Aleksandrovich’s point of view. The translation is based on the translation by Constance Garnett.
