A Stylistic Guide of Classical Cabaret: A Stylistic and Historical Glimpse with selected songs by Satie, Poulenc, Schönberg, Weill, Britten and Moore

In the last twenty years, there has been a revival of cabaret music and establishments. Thus, the demand for classical singers to crossover into this genre has increased. This has given rise to the need for further studies in the literature of this genre and its stylistic practices. This book will provide both singers and accompanists a guide to performance practice of selected cabaret songs. This study also gives an historical perspective of cabaret music and presents information which includes social, political and economic influences of the movement. A discussion of text, musical and stylistic characteristics along with theoretical information is included.
