The "Dictionary of Foreign Words and Phrases" contains over 17,000 common loan words and expressions, as well as words which are formed from loan words. Each entry contains detailed commentary and information about the word"s origin. The dictionary contains the newest loan words which have entered Russian within the past 10-15 years. There is a special section devoted to "catch phrases," which are words/phrases in other languages used by Russians without translation (that is, kept in the original source language, such as Latin, French, etc.). The dictionary is intended for a wide audience, and will be especially useful for students and professors who want to know more about Russian vocabulary.
