Directed by Jack Curran, 924 Gilman Street is a feature-length documentary on the legendary DIY Punk venue founded in late 1986. Featuring interviews with Jello Biafra, Ian McKaye, Lars Frederickson and Matt Freeman plus live performances by Operation Ivy, Screeching Weasel, Pinhead Gunpowder, Against Me, Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, Pansy Division, Fleshies and many others. Curran crafts an intimate portrait of a small Punk venue that continues to foster a vital music scene and a sense of hope that Punk principles and practices can build a successful, long-running community. This Punk venue operated solely by volunteers, has not succumbed to urban gentrification, and while Punk culture became co-opted by the mainstream, 924 Gilman has survived and is still going strong.
