Here you will find some 50 tracks and approx 150 minutes of music to take you way back to the era of prohibition and before. CD1 covers the period 1918 to 1929 with 4 performances from Paul Whiteman and his orchestra; 2 from the Original Dixieland Jazz Band and 1 from Whispering Jack Smith. CD2 covers the period 1925 to 1930 and again includes Paul Whiteman (2) but with the addition of 2 tracks from Helen Kane; 2 from Annette Hanshaw and 2 from Gene Austin supplemented by another performance from ell known Whispering Jack Smith. The sound quality is lovely and clear vintage throughout and retains that unique 1920s sound. The compilation is by Tony Watts and the sleeve notes by Michael Heatley. Another excellent themed collection that adds very nicely to those already available from Not Now Music.
