This 1961 live date from the legendary (and now-defunct) New York City jazz club is one of saxophonist Stanley Turrentine s finest. APO s remaster for SACD features the first volume of the original two disc set. Tracks include standards and a couple of blues numbers and feature Turrentine at the height of his youthful power. Guitarist Grant Green and pianist Horace Parlan push the vibe forward, and the excitement of the audience at Minton s Playhouse seems to drive the group to the top of their game.
