The power supply modules in the chassis function in either a redundant or an active state, depending on the switch model. For non-PoE+ x610 Series switches, the chassis acts as the active power source for the switches, whose own internal, non-removable power supplies function as backup modules. For PoE+ switches, the chassis acts as a redundant power supply for system power and in a load-sharing mode for PoE+ power.
