In small dogs, most growth takes place in the first 6 months of life. On average the puppy gains 20 g per day and after 10 months has multiplied the birth weight by 20 times. The diet must therefore supply all the energy needed for this fast development. Even after weaning, a puppy"s digestive system is not yet completely formed and as a result the digestion is not at maximum capacity. Between the ages of 4 and 12 weeks, the Mini puppy undergoes a crucial period in terms of immunity. The immunity transmitted by the mother via the colostrum gradually decreases, while at the same time the puppy"s own defenses have not yet fully developed and will only do so at the age of around 15 months, when the vaccination programme is complete. Puppies are born without teeth. the first milk teeth - the canines- appear at the age of around 20 days. The other teeth appear between the fourth and sixth week.
