Pip, Midge, and Dot are three very silly hens. As they sit in the shade of the big apple tree, apples keep falling on them, and they wonder who is throwing the apples. "Maybe it"s a FOX," shouts Midge, prompting the hens to investigate. But lo and behold, there is no fox in the tree--just the most spectacular view of the mountains beyond. The apples, Dot explains, are just "letting go," like the hens" feathers do. This easy-to-read is a lovely story of friendship and bravery in the face of an ultimately baseless fear.
