The "Grand Louvre" renovation program has enabled the museum"s seven departments to redistribute their collections throughout the entire palace and to rethink and update their overall display policy. In this special issue prepared in close collaboration with the management of the Louvre and the curators in charge of the different departments, Connaissance des Arts recalls how this monument steeped in history has been transformed into a modern museum ready to face the twenty-first century, and will guide the reader through each of the seven departments that house such a rich and varied cultural heritage.
