Ethnopharmacological Studies of Some Selected Spices

The present investigations were intended to evaluate the ethnopharmacological activities of certain Spices for the whole investigation. Citrus Sinensis L., Cinnamomum tamala, Trachyspermum copticum, Curcuma longa L., Nigella sativa L. and Trigonella foenum-graecum L aqueous and methanolic extracts were prepared to check ethnopharmacological activities. It is investigated that in Anthelmintic activity the methanolic extracts of N. sativa and C. longa significantly caused paralysis and death of worms especially at higher concentration (100mg/ml) compared with reference drug sample of Albendazole. Antiallergy investigations showed that of methanolic extracts of C. longa exhibited protection among almost all skin allergies like reference drugs Polyfax and XyloAid, while J. integerrima do not showed any response while the other i.e. N. sativa, C. tamala, C. sinensis, T. copticum and T. foenum show quite good results.
