An insightful and humorously written collection of highly personal observations about the writer"s travel experiences, from first glimpses of awareness in Amsterdam in the 1960s to a crashlanding in Buenos Aires thirty years later. Along the way he takes us to Southern Europe and North Africa. After high flights in Southeast Asia we see him run aground in South America. His tone always carries a sense of respectful wonder at the beauty of the places he visits and the sweetness of the people. Without making us feel nostalgia or regret, he also describes that much of what he saw no longer exists. Jos Meijer was born in the Netherlands. He received M.A.s in English Literature (1972) and Philosophy (1982), both from the University of Amsterdam. Then he wanted to leave.
