William Stearns Davis (1877-1930) was an American educator, historian, and author, known best for his humanizing of history, by relating critical turns of history from an involved character"s viewpoint. His fiction and non-fiction are still found in public and academic libraries. The Friar of Wittenberg relates the tales of a witness to Martin Luther"s life and impact on history.
