The author has lived on the Isles of Scilly for many years. In this book he shares the knowledge he has acquired concerning the history of the archipelago and the changing relationship which has existed between the landscape and humans since humans first inhabited the islands. The book is divided into four parts - environmental impacts up to 1900, environmental impacts since 1900, the effects of tourism, and the effects of spatial-scale switching.
