Rodrigo Soto, one of Costa Rica"s prominent novelists takes on the dark side of touristic development in developing countries. The young journalist Sylvia Moran takes on two investigations, one about the murder of a dutch tourist visiting Costa Rica at the hands of two local youths, the other related to terrorist atacks by a separatist movement aiming at the independence of the crown of Costa Rica"s tourism industry. What she will discover is the underbelly of development, where poor children pay the highest price in this game of preys and predators, and witnesses are forced to take action where they might have preferred to stay quietly in the dark.
