There are two bonds by which men are united and collected into societies: one bond of union is the law of nature called gregariousness or sociality, by which men, like many other animals,, are impelled to seek the company of each other; the other bond of union is the principle termed the "Division of Labour," which impels men to associate together, on account of the mutual advantages enjoyed by the saving of labour.
