The director of the Utah Experiment Station is the fifth member. It is supported entirely, and all salaries and expenses paid, by the state. Usually the appropriation for this department amounts to about $4,000 per year. The State Board of Horse Commissioners, organized in 1907, has charge of the registration and regulation of breeding horses. It gets no direct state appropriation, but has all registration fees to defray expenses. The board is made up of the professor of animal industry and professor of veterinary science of the State Agricultural College.
