High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The Earth–Minbari War is a fictional war that formed a major part of the back story of the science fiction television series Babylon 5. The war was fought between the Earth Alliance and the Minbari, an older alien race that outmatched Earth in terms of technology. Earth and Minbar were about equal in terms of military weapons power; if an Earth ship could get within manual firing range it could destroy even the strongest of the Minbari ships including a Sharlin Warcruiser. The advantage Minbar had was its stealth technology, which dramatically inhibited the EarthForce ships from locking weapons; as a result it was said that the Minbari where able to destroy four Earth ships for every one ship they lost. The war ended with Earth suffering heavy losses (although not defeated as EarthForce still had a few thousand ships left and a very large standing army to stop any Minbari land invasion), only to have the other side improbably surrender to the almost-defeated humans at the last moment. The reasons for this surrender form part of the arc of the show, and the events of the war itself are depicted in the Babylon 5: In the Beginning TV Movie.
