Stepping out on his own, after 23 years of being band leader, arranger and trumpeter with B.B.King, Calvin Owens releases True Blue, an album featuring some of the hottest blues and jazz you can expect to find today. Back on his home turf of Houston, Texas Calvin has put together an awesome blues orchestra, utilising over two dozen musicians and including legends such as B.B.King, Johnny Copeland, David 'Fathead' Newman, Trudy Lynn, Gloria Edwards and B.J.Scott. Together with Calvin's own meticulous trumpet playing the album just radiates with blast furnace intensity.
