From his very first outing with his band The McCoy's producer, guitarist and songwriter has never looked back. Charting in the early days at Number 1 with "Hang On Sloopy" which knocked The Beatles off the top spot was a major boost to their careers, but this was never to be repeated. Rick however managed to establish himself as a producer. From here he formed the nucleus of Johnny Winters backing band with his brother, this was the beginning of a very fruitful relationship that would last for years to come, with him working on every gold and platinum hit Johnny or Edgar Winter had. In 1993 he revived his solo career with a couple of cracking blues albums. Hoochie Koo Once More features the majority of Ricks most enduring hits newly re-recorded, as well as a wonderful Reggae-version of Hang On Sloopy. The album also includes two exhilarating bonus tracks, one song featuring Edgar and Johnny Winter (two musicians that have played such a significant role in Rick Derringer's overall career) and the second selection highlighting Carmine Appice, rock - drummer-extraordinaire.
