Week By the Sea is an English language teaching video designed for pre-intermediate and intermediate students. It consists of two thirty-minute video cassettes and is accompanied by an Activity Book for students and a Video Guide for teachers. The language syllabus is based on Streamline English Connections. The video and its accompanying books are therefore suitable for any pre-intermediate learners who are following on from Streamline English Departures or are taking an independent course of study at this level. A Week By the Sea is an eight-part situation comedy which offers a highly entertaining and effective way of learning English. Each episode is approximately seven minutes long and covers the syllabus taught in ten units of Connections. The main uses of the video will therefore be to consolidate this material, or as a rapid revision course used on its own. The students' Activity Book contains a wealth of material that ensures that full benefit will be gained from the video. It includes viewing and extension activities, language summaries and transcripts. The teacher's Video Guide contains detailed, step-by-step guidance for using the video and the Activity Book. It also offers alternative lesson plans, making the whole into a flexible package that will help teachers use the video in a wide variety of teaching situations.
