We turned the corner towards the Palladium in Cologne, we were greeted by a queue of people waiting to enter the venue. The nerves reached a new high when we realised we were still three streets away from the entrance, the line of people seemed to go on forever. The "Beautiful Sky" tour was bigger than anything we had ever experienced or imagined. When we got into the club the crew were smiling - they knew we were excited, we have worked with many people but these guys are the best and the fact they were smiling meant all was well. The atmosphere backstage was electric with family, friends, record company, musos and people we'd never met all there to see the show. Uwe was as confident as ever saying how great the show would be, Sebi cracked open the traditional beer before the show giving a nervous smile, before taking a sip...only to be interrupted by a stampede of people entering the venue. We ran out and saw the crowds, Sebi smiled again and took a bigger gulp from the now half empty bottle. Gomezz was warming up on the drum pad, the beat got all our hearts racing. Phil was his usual calm self on the outside, on the inside I think he had solved the meaning of life for excitement. I started to put on my stage clothes I looked in the mirror, saw I was nervous, got on my knees, said a prayer, stood up, looked at the guys and saw so many moments that we had experienced together flash by. I knew this night was going to be one of those moments we would never forget. I am not always right but in Cologne on that night I was, the crowd and the band exploded with energy. When we came off stage there was nothing left, we sat down, all quiet, until Uwe broke the silence "I told ye it would be a great show! we all laughed, cracked a beer open and celebrated another moment you have given us.
