Eight years after his last solo album, Mellow Man Ace reunited with his Cypress Hill family on his 3rd album: From The Darkness Into The Light. D.J. Muggs oversaw the production of the album, and brother Sen Dog, and B-Real are guests on the record. Eight years is a long time to go without a new album, especially when you consider how much hip-hop trends can change from one year to the next. But Mellow Man Ace has no problem changing with the times and delivering an excellent album that is mindful of this Millennium’s taste in Rap. Mellow avoids all diluted Pop-Rap and sticks to the real Hardcore stuff. The album has a consistently serious tone; Mellow Man tackles a number of social issues, from urban violence to child pornography, and raps candidly about the fact that he went from fame to obscurity. From The Darkness Into The Light is a compelling Rap album.
