The popular, step-by-step approach of the first edition remains basically the same. The new edition still divides the complex, communicative activity of speech into The Three Messages. We still start with the simpler, less abstract, less language-dependent skills of the Physical Message (posture, eye contact, gestures, and voice inflection), thereby allowing the students to make quick, visible progress and gain confidence. However, in response to your feedback, the new edition reverses the order of the Story Message and the Visual Message, giving visuals greater emphasis. After all, we say "show and tell," not "tell and show."
