"Architectural Ironwork" showcases over 375 spectacular examples of work from more than a hundred of today"s top blacksmiths, supplemented with historical works from fifteen countries. Here are examples of entry areas, doors, door hardware, staircases and railings, gates and fences, with a basis in traditional design inspired by French and English ironwork. Another group has been inspired by Art Nouveau structures. Some fan out into new statements that may take inspiration from various heritages, but evolve into fresh, innovative work. Today"s craftsmen, brought up in art schools with a deep understanding and awareness of art history, are pushing the potential of iron design into uncharted areas.
