Friends is a motivating course for young secondary level pupils .The material is designed to capture students' interest through a variety of different contexts including humour , fiction , real life and cross cultural material .Grammar and vocabulary are taught in three steps - presentation , comprehension and practice . Reading for pleasure is encouraged and a carefully graded programme develops reading skills .Each student's book contains eight sections with four lessons in it followed by a revision section . 'Reading corners' and 'culture corners' develop students' skills . Each student's book has a small play at the end .
