Tiles and Tilework draws on the magnificent collections of the V&A to present an illustrated survey of the production and use of tiles in architecture and interiors from the Middle Ages to the present. It is illustrated with an array of stunning pictures which include not only individual tiles but also tile panels and tiles in interiors and gardens. Many different styles are represented, conveying a sense of the richness and diversity of the traditions of tilework in Europe, from Delftware in Holland to Moorish Spain, the Gothic and its revival in the 19th century, the Renaissance, the Arts and Crafts Movement and Modernism.
