Webster"s Compact Rhyming Dictionary is a listing of words arranged into groups according to the way they rhyme. All of the words included in this book are drawn from Webster"s Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary, and decisions about which words rhyme with which other words are based on pronunciations given in that dictionary. In selecting words for entry in this book, the editors have focused on words that are most likely to be used in poetry; highly technical or otherwise obscure words are generally not included. However, some words that are restricted in their usage (such as slang or archaic words) as well as many words that are likely to be unfamiliar to many users have been included.
