EMI's massive Alternative: 120 Original Hits collects (take a guess) 120 alternative/modern rock culled from its huge roster of players and recordings. At first glance, it seems a relatively eclectic affair, boasting cuts from huge acts like Coldplay, KT Tunstall, and Gomez, as well as up and coming superstars such as Bat for Lashes and Magic Numbers, but further observations show an over-stuffed, major-label calling card that simply repeats artists over and over, often overlooking some of their best tracks, resulting in a collection of songs that probably come stocked on employee Ipods every Christmas.
