Murder in the Red Barn (1935) is the story of the infamous 19th century Maria Marten murder. After killing Maria to avoid a scandal, the Squire William Corder (Slaughter) buries the body in a red barn during a raging storm and challenges God himself to "Wake her now if you can!"
