The so-called " archive revolution" opened doors of many Russian archives in the 1990s, including some secret services archives. Many exciting stories were broken, some of them are trustworthy, some of them are lies. Vitalii Chernivskii, a former NKVD officer, then the head of a department of Russian Intelligence Services (vneshniaia razvedka) and today a writer, wrote a book about recently published mystifications about the Russian secret services.
