EAN/UPC/ISBN Code 9780786402427

The office papers of members of the United States Congress are, by tradition, considered personal. When the senator or representative leaves office, these files are often sent to an archival repository such as a library or historical society. This work is designed to assist the repository and Congressional staff members with properly managing the records. It first covers collecting the papers and properly appraising them; then guidelines for arranging and describing the records are provided, including examples of finding aids, series descriptions, and intellectual and physical arrangement outlines. The final chapter examines methods for sampling large series and the handling of electronic files.
