"Tiagloe soslovie" was the name of peasants and city people who paid the federal taxes, supplied products to the government and paid other state duties. They composed the largest part of Russian population. This book studies the government policy regarding "tiaglovye" peasants in Russia in the second half of the 16th - the early 17th centuries.
