Abandoned by his Anglo mother and Latino father, Beto has steadfastly refused to make commitments in his life and work, or to choose between his dual worlds. Always torn between the Latino culture he loves and the Anglo culture embraced by the grandmother who raised him, Beto faces an unexpected challenge when an elderly Native American mystic arrives in the Utah canyonlands to deliver a mysterious message to him from his Mexican grandmother in East Los Angeles.
