Similar in mood to Prayer, Supplication, the second movement in Bloch"s From Jewish Life suite, is just as expressive. The cello and piano carry a sad, introspective melody that sounds distinctly Jewish, though in fact it was entirely derived from Bloch"s imagination, not based on Hebraic folk traditions.
